If there weren't pictures, did it even happen? | The Woodlands Party Photographer | Why it is the best decision you'll make

Hiring an event photographer for your private party is going to be the best decision you make all year- let me tell you why.

I know you’ve planned this event meticulously. Every detail well thought out. ALL of the special touches. When the party starts, don’t forget that you were invited too. When I am hired to capture a private party or event my goal is to make sure every fabulous detail that you spent your time on is captured. These are the things that make your event unique and tailored to the guest of honor. While I am there I will constantly be on the lookout for special, sweet, and silly candid moments between you and all of your guests. Additionally, I will be available or any posed group shots that we can get.

What does this mean for you?

This means your are fully immersed in your event and enjoying every moment without a second thought, or more responsibility.

When you receive your private online gallery I want you to re-live your event in a way that you didn’t know you would. I want you to be proud of how well put together your event was, the details all showcased and memorialized long after the mess was cleaned up. I want you to remember your favorite moments, but most of all I want you to see the things I saw when you didn’t. An interaction otherwise missed or forgotten. Maybe two of your favorite people in an embrace that you weren’t expecting. I want you to say, “WE HAVE TO FRAME THIS ONE” because all of your favorite people are there and smiling.

If you want some more technical day-of details about me: I arrive wearing black to distinguish myself as staff, but appropriate attire for the event (dressy vs casual). I make myself like a “fly on the wall” and capture anything I can, but I also am not afraid to approach a group of guests and ask if they want a posed photo. I enjoy interacting with children and pets as well. I try to fit seamlessly into your event whilst still remaining professional.

Us Plus Love is available for birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, corporate events, weddings, sweet 16, quinceanera and all other private parties.

Pups in Portraits | a photographer's take on adding family pets into professional family photos

I get about one million and two emails each year asking if it would be alright to bring along a family pet to their portrait session and the answer is always an excited yes. I know that your pets are your family and I would never ask you to exclude them. I joke that they can sometimes even behave better than the toddlers I photograph. People tend to train their pets, afterall. The silly ones are just fine with me though, too. Your children love their fur friends and they are always welcome to join in on our family fun. I would love to share some of my favorites for reference.

Themed Birthday Portraits in The Woodlands TX | Wesley Turns Three | Tractor & Construction Trucks

I’ve known Wesley’s family for quite some time now. We met when his older sister was turning one for their very first custom photo session- even before I was “Us Plus Love”

{FLASHBACK}

2019-07-26_0008.jpg

With every custom session that I design I aim to work with you to create exactly what you had in mind and what will suite your child’s personality perfectly. A birthday comes once a year. A special time to focus on things that make your little one happiest.

Little Wes has a special fondness for construction equipment. Our time together was full of laughter, big rigs, and tiny replicas. The best part about a session customized to your little ones most avid interests is the way their personality pours out. Turning 3 means lots of curious expressions and sweet smiles- and surely some silly faces, too!

Here are a few favorites:

On a serious note:

Big thanks to Olivia and Wesley’s superdad, Kevin, for always going along with our crazy ideas. From that first morning wrestling what seemed like hundreds of balloons and a helium tank, to our adventures in construction land- you are always willing to do whatever we need to fulfill a vision. Promise to let you look at the photobooks with us when we’re 80!

And for my dear friend Souzi, who I met early on in this journey- you are worth all of the riches the world has to offer. I have had the best time watching your family and also our relationship grow. I had Wesley do this pose for you:

Engagement Session Styling Guide | Advice from a Woodlands Wedding Photographer

So, your man has just popped the question- you’ve picked the perfect wedding date together, you nailed down your dream venue and you booked your favorite photographer. Next step is your engagement session so that you can beautify your wedding website and change your phone wallpaper, duh! Here’s what you need to know on your end to create a breathtaking portrait sure to stun all of social media.

Know your skin tone, and the tones that will compliment it:

Here’s a great article from In Style magazine to help, https://www.instyle.com/how-tos/how-to-find-best-color-to-wear-for-your-skin-tone

Warm Skin tones tend to look best in bright yellows and blues.

Cool skin tones will pop in purples and the magenta family.

woodlandsengagementphotographyhoustontexas.jpg

Pick something you FEEL great in:

Nothing looks better than confidence and when you feel great- you look it. What comes from within will radiate more than any item of clothing.

Outdoorengagementphotothewoodlandsspringconroetomball.jpg

Be true to who you are:

Incorporate yourself. If you aren’t a super fancy gal, don’t show up in a ballgown. We want you to look back on these pictures and remember exactly who you were in this moment. Even casual styles are chic and fun!

Downtownhoustonengagementwithdogs.jpg

Texture and intricate details make simple pieces unique:

We want the focus of the image we create to be on you, and the love you share with one another. You don’t need a “showpiece” of an outfit. Simple choices that are embellished with special buttons, lace trim, a delicately textured fabric, etc will make a simple item look lavish without stealing the spotlight.

romanticengagementphotothewoodlandstexas.jpg

Accessories can jazz things up significantly:.

Like icing on a cake, accessories are a great place to show your personality and excitement to your outfit. Jewelry, fun shoes, hair pieces, neckwear, pocket squares (for him), etc will make for a well thought out portrait.

houstonstreetengagementphoto.jpg

Treat yourself to a manicure, and perhaps hair and makeup:

You’ll want your nails to be bare or freshly polished for some close ups of your new sparkle! Touching again on looking and feeling great with hair and make-up. Make a day of this and enjoy each moment. We are making memories, afterall.

IMG_6387_0259.jpg

Rent something- no need to splurge:

Several companies are renting some of today’s hottest fashion so there is no need to splurge on a high dollar garment. The value will lie in the portrait on your wall that you will walk by every day instead of hanging in the back of your closet.

2017 Best Wedding Trends | A Houston Photographer Year In Review | Wrapping Up 2017

2017 Best Wedding Trends | A Houston Photographer Year In Review | Wrapping Up 2017

A new year always calls for reflection and in doing so I was compelled to share some of the most unique and heart warming things my 2017 wedding couples pulled off. From brilliant themes to intricate and personal details, my brides (and grooms) this year did not disappoint.

The first union of the year was at an upscale venue I had been eager to photograph for some time.  Chateau Cocomar is an elegant event space with marble floors, columns, manicured outdoor areas, and many fabulously designed rooms inside.

GOLD- A common theme this year, and one I would never argue. Gold ran rampant in the wedding industry during 2017. Bridesmaids dresses, table wear, jewelry and more were adorned in this classic metallic.

RED BOTTOMS- A girl's wedding day is one she often dreams of for quite some time. When selecting footwear for the big day many choose to splurge on something extra fancy. After all of your waiting and wishing and hoping, it is so easily justified- you deserve it! Christian Louboutin made big waves in this year's wedding fashion. It seemed as if all of the girls wanted (and got) their dream pair of "Red Bottoms" in 2017!

FURRY SLIPPERS- You couldn't possibly wear your Louboutin's all day, and splurging on a pair for all your bridesmaids might not be as justified for everyone- so we've also been seeing a ton of super soft, furry matching house shoes for pre wedding primping. These make an excellent gift for your best girls that will make everyone feel included and, more importantly, comfortable!

I also had the pleasure of capturing another well thought out wedding at The Bell Tower on 34th. This is an iconic venue that is very well known and located in Houston, Texas. It provides several stunning backgrounds for portraits and is a great place to celebrate any formal event.

PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS- A sure fire way to elevate any event is to bring in live, professional musicians. There is a certain "wow factor" that only this can provide. Your guests will be overtaken with the sounds of the instruments dancing together.

CUSTOM CAKE TOPPERS- The perfect way to show your true personalities. These little trinkets are one of the few things you'll store from your wedding and it is a great way to add a little quirk (if that suits you). I have seen bobble heads, crystal sculptures, wooden cutouts and more over the year!

FLOWER GIRLS STEALING THE SHOW- Up and down and all around, back and forth and ONE MORE TIME. Little flower princesses were captivating entire crowds at all of the weddings in all of the world. Something magical about the innocence of a sweet little girl in a sweet little dress makes anything they decide to do be fantastic. The aisle is her oyster- let no man stop her shenanigans!

Butler's Courtyard is a quaint little place in League City that I thoroughly enjoyed. It has a cozy, vintage feel that fit Kelli and David's there exquisitely.

VINTAGE DETAILS- Everything seems to come full circle in life. Trends come back around and the simple elegance of mixed matched pieces adds a timeless feel to any wedding celebration. Milk glass, ornate frames, authentic crochet pieces, buttons and more were sighted at weddings all over the South!

FLORAL ROBES- Matching floral robes were wildy popular amongst bridal parties this year. Many designs to choose from makes matching to your color scheme easy. This is another popular bridesmaid gift as well! They usually come one size fits all!

We headed over to Ranch House Chapel and Lodge for an airplane pilot's wedding and the vintage travel theme took my breath away! We rented a vintage airplane for bridal portraits and Tessi had tied the theme into her wedding day in many ways!

TRAVEL THEME - When you marry an airline pilot, the theme seems necessary.

BEACH WEDDINGS- It's easy to see that many are drawn to the ocean. Sun, sand, and saltwater are the perfect components to a bright and happy union. Galveston Islands hosted many wonderful weddings during 2017.

INTIMATE WEDDING CEREMONIES- Only your closest. The ones who truly matter.  A private event where you have plenty of time to converse with each guest. I saw an overwhelming number of small weddings this year and they always prove to be lovely.

BIG BRIDAL PARTIES- No friend was left behind. Big Bridal Parties were Booming in 2017. I loved the outpouring of friendship I was able to witness firsthand.

The elegance the Chateau Polonez has to offer is unmatched. Another classy Houston wedding venue that is beautiful in so many ways.

OVER THE TOP GROOM'S CAKES- As if the multi-tiered dream piece you picked out together wasn't enough to sweeten your party, many groom's around the country are now being surprised with custom cakes just for them. These intricate confections are made to match whatever the groom has a passion for and they are always a show piece! The details make the difference and Houston bakers are doing really nice work for these deserving men.

LIVE VOCALISTS- Yet another way to WOW your guests. A performance for your closest friends and family is something they will not soon forget.

RUSTIC COUNTRY THEME- A staple here in the South, and a trend I'm sure we will see for a while. Easy to incorporate personal details and make your own, this burlap loving theme is a favorite in Houston! Everyone grab your favorite pair of boots!

SWEET SENTIMENTS- I'm seeing so many soft sides of so many tough guys. The sweet little notes we find here and there are bringing all of the tears! Wedding days are so sweet and little gems like this make it just so.

I can't wait to see what all of the lucky Brides and Grooms come up with this year! If you or someone you know is engaged I would absolutely love the opportunity to speak about the wedding photography packages I have to offer! Contact Here !

Chateau Cocomar Bridal Session │ Houston Wedding Photography│ My "Downtown Bride"

Now that Nikki is officially Mrs. S I can share her flawless bridal session with the world. You might recognize her from the steamy downtown engagements late last year. After that incredible session I knew her bridals would not disappoint.

IMG_7861.jpg

"Bridal portrait sessions are a Southern tradition where the bride takes portraits (typically 1-2 months before the wedding) in her full wedding day attire – hair, makeup, jewelry, veil, bouquet, and of course, the dress. Generally a large portrait from the session is displayed at the reception near the wedding cake." -Google

Many of my treasured Us Plus Love brides plan to have their Bridal Portraits taken on the same day as their hair and make up trial.

Chateau Cocomar was the perfect venue for my more modern bride, as it suited her personality and style perfectly. The flowing hallways, intricate details and clean marble look provided the most elegant backdrop for my flawless bride and her stunning dress.

Jenny + John | Ashelynn Manor Wedding | Houston Wedding Photography

Photographing weddings has quickly become one of my favorite genres. When I show up to a perfectly planned wedding at a venue as stunning as Ashelynn Manor it is always a day that I enjoy. Jenny executed a gorgeous wedding inspired by the tones you will find in succulents. Deep emerald greens and plum pieces made her vision a reality. Jenny and John had a bridal party full of brothers and sisters, and a family I could instantly see had so much love for both of them. Jenny surprised John with an intimate foot washing ceremony just after their formal portraits together and it was truly one of the most special things I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing.  This is just a small sampling of their very beautiful gallery full of heirloom portraits I can only hope they will treasure for eternity together.  If you or someone you know is interested in wedding coverage I would love the opportunity to provide a quote. My "Barbie Bride" got her gallery today and I couldn't wait to share some personal favorites from her and Matt's wedding day.  Blo Dry Bar at Market Street in The Woodlands was amazing as the entire bridal party swept in and took over the salon. The girls looked their best and had a lot of fun there, too. The ceremony took place at the gorgeous chapel at The Woodlands Church and the reception followed at Augusta Pines Country Club.

{Limited Edition} Campfire Mini Session | The Woodlands Tx | Family and Child Photography | Holiday Mini Session

Fall is here in The Woodlands, TX and I am so excited to be sending out my first set of mini session galleries to all of the wonderful new clients, and of course my existing treasures! Meeting your family and having the opportunity to watch the grown is one of my greatest joys in life. The holidays always bring new faces and old favorites so I like to keep things exciting!! The Fall mini sessions I offer are a more traditional portrait that encapsulates the loving bond between your family without the distraction of an elaborate set or props. Shortly after I do always promise a fun styled set for the littles and I am happy to present that to you today! This year's theme is a warm and cozy campfire complete with sweet treats and rustic props. These are best suited for toddlers through young children and will take place in The Woodlands. The set is rustic with dark stained wood tones and red plaid decor. Warm blankets and a rustic bench with a fun reindeer friend, a joyful horn, and sleigh bells. There will be marshmallows, milk chocolate and graham crackers for the children (and parents!) to enjoy and incorporate into some fun images. I do want to note that safety is always of my utmost concern and there is NO FIRE on set, this is enhanced in post processing- but the children have fun helping me collect logs for the "campfire" and pretending to roast their marshmallows on long sticks. Dates and packages will be listed and updated as they become booked. Message me via the contact form or directly to BLetsos@uspluslove.com with your time and package preference for booking. A 50% retainer is required to hold your space on the calendar and balances will be sent 1 week before the session and due 48 hours prior.

The Woodlands | Family Photographer | Belden Family at Kleb Woods Nature Preserve in Tomball, TX

Every year on Mother's Day I invite you all to tag a wonderful Mom who deserves to win a free family session. This year our winner was the lovely Danielle and her sweet family. I am so glad her dear friend thought to tag this stunning lady because her graceful spirit warmed my heart this instant we spoke about styling her sunset family portrait session. We chose a fun new location that I had yet to explore and it proved to be lovely with lush green foliage , rustic barn backdrops and some quaint little historical homes as well. Mom choose a color palate of deep blues and lighter aquas that poped against the more natural colors like green and brown that the location provided. The shutters on one of the little house were even painted blue- how perfect! Below I have shared some of my favorite images from this shoot and I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I have. If you are interested in your own family portrait session, I am booking into this Fall and would love to have you!! Have a look at the pricing guide and contact me if you have any questions at all- I am here to walk you through every step of your heirloom portrait experience. We're also on #instagam

Blake Gets a Brother | The Woodlands Maternity Photography | Sunlit Maternity Session

You might remember The Parker's from past favorite sessions of mine. They are stylish and fun with a loving bond, and I am always excited to document their milestones. As a portrait photographer there is nothing that makes me happier than seeing your family grow. Creating a bond with your children makes our time shooting fun, relaxing, and enjoyable for all of us! I love all of the little (and big) friends I have made throughout my photography journey. With your permission I do provide non messy snacks and fun trinkets like stickers or bubbles at the end of our session. My goal is for your portrait session to be a fun family outing where mom looks her best, dad is so proud of the unit he created, and your children leave with big grins and hopes for another session soon. I always have fun with my little pal, Blake and I can not wait to see how handsome his little brother will be. Brittany and Ryan are fabulous parents with an intense love for one another and hearing that they decided to expand their already perfect family made my heart happy. Upon discovering this new location I knew it would be ideal for their sunset maternity session in The Woodlands. I am always on the hunt for new and exciting locations that provide gorgeous natural light, cascading fields, and other beautiful landscapes we can utilize. Providing variety for my repeat clients is crucial to me, and also fulfilling as an artist. Here are a few favorite shots from their stunning maternity session.

Senior Portrait Session | 2016 Senior Model Emily | The Woodlands, TX Portrait Photography

Working with seniors is always a fun and rewarding experience. This year I wanted to start off the year with an amazing team of senior representatives that were outgoing and engaging, so I put out a model call on my facebook page. One of my regular clients quickly tagged Emily and I couldn't be more thrilled that we were able to work together. Her mother Melinda and I discussed all of the details and I was happy to find out that I seemed to have found the perfect candidate for my program this year. I developed a point system that rewards you for interacting on social media outlets like facebook and instagram. You'll also earn big points for any direct referrals from your friends or family! These points will translate into monetary credits that you can use toward digital files, graduation cards, or any of the professionally printed products I offer. Did I mention that your *entire* session fee is also waived?  I always have some extra outfits and accessories available to look through and choose from. You are welcome to bring all of your own styling- but I do like to give a few fun extras you might not have thought about. We were honored to have Paulina with Luca-Love Bracelets stop in and provide some extra styling as well. I want my senior girls to feel as beautiful as they are- professional hair & make up is provided for every session! Cristina is my Go-To girl for enhancing their best features while staying age appropriate. The outpouring of tears when Emily saw her look completed speaks volumes. I think we all shed a tear when she couldn't hold hers back. Just me? :) It made my heart very happy to see that she felt so beautiful and I could not wait to get her on location at the gorgeous spot I had chosen for her here in The Woodlands, TX. When scouting I immediately thought this would make a great Senior Spot. The light during her sunset portrait session was absolutely breathtaking and made for a lovely, warm backdrop. This location provides an amazing set of steps, a modern pergola with tons of vines and greenery, some great colored backdrops and more! Emily was a natural in front of the camera and we had a great time working through poses. I've compiled my favorites for you to enjoy- and I hope that you do!!

Rainy Day Engagement Session | Houston Area Wedding Photography | Lisa & Joey

While I do offer free in person consultations, sometimes the first time I meet the special couple {{who so carefully chose me to document their wedding day}} on the day of their engagement portraits. This was the case with Lisa & Joey, and I must say that I was immediately drawn to their quirky personalities. Their original session has been rescheduled due to rain and much to our surprise, the rain would show itself on their second attempt as well. After a quick regrouping we decided to stick it out and try to get some gorgeous rainy day shots. Lisa explained that their first date was very rainy, and it might have just been "meant to be that way". After seeing the results I couldn't agree more. Their images are intimate and lovely and warm despite the cool crisp air and sprinkles of rain that were upon us. Love conquers all.  Each of my wedding day packages does include a full engagement session, so if you are newly engaged I would love to chat with you more about what I offer and set up your very own couples portrait session showcasing the everlasting love you have for one another. Here are my favorite images from Lisa and Joey's engagement session located in The Woodlands, TX this past fall. I am anticipating a lot of love and laughter at their wedding later this year.

Mommy and Me | The Woodlands, TX | Family Photography

As a mother of three, one of my absolute favorite types of sessions to book are the oh so special Mommy and Me portraits! These are the images that will document the everlasting love you have for your children, and the love they have for you in return. When photographing these session I aim to capture the connection and bond you have.  I love when you play and interact and talk about what you love most about each other. The little faces and expressions you get are beyond adorable and I hope they are what will tug at your heart strings when looking back on these heirloom images. When Nikki and I had our initial styling consultation she said she wanted a bohemian feel that incorporated some femininity. She choose a long crimson dress with delicate straps, and a flowing cream top with floral print leggings for her little one. The both looked stunning! All of my sessions come with digital files for easy sharing online, and most include a print credit as well. I urge you to print the images you wish to pass down. Discs and USB drives can often fail, but the paper images that I rummage through at my grandmother's house have never failed us. A yearly family album is a great way to archive your growing love for one another.

Lauryn & Tim's Engagement Session | The Woodlands, TX | Wedding Photography

I am delighted to be photographing Lauryn and Tim's wedding later this year. As a wedding photographer one of my favorite moments is your engagement session. I utilize this time by learning more about your love story and how it began, how it's been, and where it is leading. I make sure to note subtle tendencies that will portray exactly who you are in your portraits. I always tell my couples to be themselves and snuggle up the same way they would at home on the sofa. My goal is for you to look back on these images and instantly recognize that same loving look he still gives you, or the same sweet way she melts into your chest each and every evening. Your engagement session is the first step in the adventure that is wedding planning. You'll use these love-filled images for announcements, save the dates, to display at your wedding, and to cherish for a lifetime. If you are newly engaged please send me an email using the contact form, I would love to speak with you about the wedding packages that I offer and get your Engagement Session scheduled.

Randal & Aaron's Sun Soaked Engagement Session | The Carriage House | Houston, Texas Wedding Photographer

One of the most exciting things about getting engaged is the portrait session that will follow. This is the perfect way to announce the big news to all of your friends and family, to show off the ring he so thoughtfully chose for you, and to capture this most exciting time in your lives. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who's been genuinely complimented- and there is not a compliment more genuine than the proposal of marriage. Your engagement portrait session can be scheduled at your wedding venue, like Randal and Aaron chose- Or I am always happy to provide a list of location options as well.  When you do choose to shoot at the venue where you will say your "I do's" it gives me a chance to look over the space and plan out how I will best document your wedding day.  Each and every portrait session with Us Plus Love includes a complimentary styling consultation where we will discuss the overall look and feel you would like to portray through these heirloom images. Outfit changes are permitted as time allows. Here are my favorites from Randal and Aaron's Engagement session at their wedding venue, The Carriage House Houston. I hope you'll enjoy the love and warmth that are radiating from these two.

When Jennie and I had our initial phone consultation and she told me of the beautiful details she had been planning and I was over the moon! All of the bridesmaids in muted pastels and a rustic feel throughout the entire incredible venue at Moffitt Oaks in Tomball, Texas. Her florals were simple, but stunning with tons of baby's breath and succulents. The bridal party was so sweet and it was a joy working with them while getting ready. Hair and Make up team were so polite and professional and did an amazing job styling the ladies and prepping them for this beautiful occasion. The ceremony was full of emotion and love. The reception full of fun and dancing! A perfect wedding. Here are just some of my favorites from that very special day!!
